Olympic Champion Mahé Drysdale:

  • 5x World Champion
  • 2x Olympic Champion
  • always has new goals to achive and loves the competition
  • says that a lot of training goes into a 7min race
  • he has 11-month training per year
  • trains 6 days a week and 2-3 times/ day
  • 3 aspects of rowing: the physical, the mental and the technical
  • there is a lot of pain you have to put yourself through
  • normal training rate: 18 – 20 strokes per minute (SPM) – if you are at a lower rate you have to put more power into a stroke
  • Mahe is planning to compete at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 – he will be 41
  • every single day you are trying to achive one small little goal – it is all those small details that over time build up
  • you cannot take short-cuts. You have to do everything to the best of your ability
  • “Be the Best you can Be Everyday” – is Mahe’s mantra
