It was a hot sunny day. We had a large group. I would like to thank: Isabella Pingle for organising the event, the Management of the Kensington Bowling Club for allowing us to use the car-park and the Club facilities and co-Hosts Jan Whitehead, Richard Francis and Sylvia Vermaak as well as to everyone who participated.
The Jacaranda trees were in full bloom and the flowers carpeted the streets and pavements.
We started the walk at the Kensington Bowling Club, we went up the stairs to Langermann Koppie to enjoy the vistas of Kensington, Bruma and Bedfordview.
We walked past Jeppe High Boys, went up to the Scottish Horse Memorial, walked past Kensington Castle, Jeppe High Girls and back to the Kensington Bowling Club.
Some of us visited the pub at the Club for refreshments as well as to enjoy the social and to watch South Africa beat Japan 26-3. Go Bokke!
Very worrisome is the fact that trees are dying all across the country due to a beetle infestation. Read more about the Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer. The past year has seen many oak trees die along Langermann Drive, Kensington. Trees in Johannesburg and Pretoria are being badly affected.
