The Kensington Jacaranda Walk 2018

It was a cool, pleasant morning and the Jacarandas were in full bloom. Thanks to all who participated, thank you to Isabella for organising and to the Management and Staff at the Kensington Bowling Club for parking security.

The Kensington Bowling Club is the oldest bowling Club in Johannesburg. It was established in 1914.

Kensington Castle was built by Samuel Scott Wilson in 1911 and it is a replica of the Rhodesay-on-Bute Castle in Scotland.

Jeppe Boys High School was named after Julius Jeppe. The school was designed by the renown British Architect Sir Herbert Baker. The school was built in 1909.

Martin Ledwaba addresses the group at Jeppe High School for Boys. Martin Ledwaba started working at Jeppe High School for Boys as a Laboratory Assistant in 1971. He has a teacher’s qualification. His final exam at Unisa (University of South Africa) earned him his NPDE.

  1. The flowering jacarandas are so beautiful, awesome colour. What kind of tree is the one the Americans are taking photos of (the wispy flowers with the pink edging)?
