We had a large group. One of the features of walking along van Buuren is that besides the paved area for pedestrians and runners, it is never too hot nor too cold.
In Summer the huge oak trees lining both sides of van Buuren provide a very pleasant shade. In Winter, the trees don’t have leaves so the sun warms you up.
Following the walk some of us headed for ‘Doppio Zero’ for a hearty brunch and great social.
Welcome to Linda from Taiwan. Thanks to everyone who participated and thank you Sylvia for co-hosting.
A sad note: during the walk we saw a very large number of men and women walking in silence along van Buuren. They were a group of local residents walking in memory of a safety guard who had been shot dead by a criminal attempting to rob a house a few days earlier. The safety guard leaves behind his wife, two young children and elderly parents…
P.S. At a thrilling match today, South Africa beat Wales 19-16 at the semi-finals of the World Rugby Cup. South Africa will play England at the Finals this coming Saturday, the 2nd November 2019.
