The rain stopped at around 7am and by 8 o’clock, Johannesburg had beautiful blue skies. Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve is a lush green landscape due to the good rains of the past few days.
Shortly after visiting the first lookout point we separated into the 12K and the 14K groups. At the top of the sunbird trial the wind was so intense that we decided not to have our usual break there – we opted for the silent pool area where the surrounding koppies provided protection from the unusually strong winds.
We were fortunate to see some game viz. blesbok, wildebeest and zebra.
Thanks to all who participated. This was another good workout in beautiful surrounds and with great people. Thanks to Ilona, Jan, and Niren for co-hosting. Welcome to Calesta (Singapore), Gill (Australia) and Saima (Namibia).
Saima thank you for the fitbit image. Ladies and gentlemen, all the evidence you need w.r.t. burning lots of calories when you do the Klipriviersberg hike… just go easy on the milkshakes afterwards.
After the hike we headed for Thaba Eco Hotel for lunch. The milkshake group is going strong: my chocolate milkshake was delicious and Avi told me he enjoyed his strawberry milkshake as well. The restaurant was over-booked, they nonetheless found us a table and we all enjoyed a tasty lunch and social.
Join us on the next Hike and Walk at Klipriviersberg on the 7th Jan 2018.
