COVID - Light a Candle

COVID – Light a Candle

Last night I received a whatsapp message from my friend Connie informing that her Dad, Manuel de Sousa Serrao, a dear friend of ours, had passed away. Her Dad had been hospitalized with COVID two weeks earlier. Last year Nini Pronto, another very good friend of ours passed away with COVID. Every single person around the world has now been directly or indirectly affected by COVID: a member of the family, a friend and/ or a friend’s friend. Fortunately, many have recovered.

The stats are sobering (as @ 2021 Jan 19):

How to Avoid COVID?

  • Get tested if you are filling any of the COVID symptoms
  • get vaccinated (should you be fortunate enough to live in a country where vaccinations are being administered)
  • adhere to safety protocols: avoid crowds, whenever in public wear a mask, keep social distancing and sanitize often
  • take Vitamins B, C and D as well as the minerals zinc and potassium (food sources of potassium include bananas, oranges, cantaloupe, honeydew, apricots, grapefruit (some dried fruits, such as prunes, raisins and dates), cooked spinach, cooked broccoli, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, peas and cucumbers.

Let’s light a candle and/ or say a prayer for all those who passed away from COVID, for the families left behind, for those presently with COVID, for the doctors, nurses and all health workers treating COVID patients and for anyone else being affected by this disease.
