Burpees are the trendy way to blast fat with just your body weight. And if you like those, you’ll love this new version of the mountain climber, courtesy of Men’s Health Fitness Director B.J. Gaddour. That’s because it has some very burpee-like benefits. It’s called a “jumping mountain climber.” Do it right, and it’ll skyrocket your heart rate, hammer your shoulders, and make your abs scream.
Watch the video to see how to do it the “easy” way and also the harder way.
Pay special attention to Gaddour’s back throughout: You want it to stay flat the entire time. No dipping side-to-side or bowing up and down.
Use either variation of the exercise as a finisher to your workout. Perform as many reps as you can in 30 seconds and then rest for 30 seconds. Repeat for five minutes straight.
